The scope of this project was the upgrade of the chilled water system and installation of an off-hour chiller system. In addition, the project included the upgrade to the energy management system to provide remote monitoring and control.
The design included two different load calculations in order to assign capacity for the new chillers. The fist calculation was based upon the existing operations conditions. A load profile and energy consumption calculation was done and adjusted to the demand and consumption from most recent electric utility statements. As a result, the calculation was considered to be an accurate representation of the performance of the building HVAC and energy system performance. For the second and final calculation, the ventilation, miscellaneous equipment load, and lighting load were increased in order to select chillers according to future load conditions.
The building load was split between two main water chillers and a smaller off-hour water chiller.
The design estimates the profitable construction cost, which include the replacement of all hydronic specialties and all appurtenances.
